Welcome

Welcome to the Woodland Elementary English Language Learner (ELL) Program. Our mission is to support multilingual learners as they develop English language proficiency while building on the strengths of their home languages and cultural backgrounds. Through high-quality, research-based instruction, we empower students to become confident communicators, successful learners, and engaged members of our school community.

Student Identification and Assessment

Students who may qualify for English language support are identified through the Home Language Survey (HLS) completed during enrollment for all kindergarten and newly enrolled students in the Tippecanoe School Corporation.

Students identified through the HLS participate in the WIDA Screener to assess their English language proficiency. Assessment results guide instructional planning and determine the level of language support each student receives. Student progress is monitored regularly to ensure instruction meets individual learning needs and supports continued language growth.

We recognize the students’ linguistic and cultural diversity enriches our school community, and we strive to foster meaningful partnerships with families throughout each child’s educational journey.

Our goal is to ensure that every English learner develops language skills, confidence, and academic foundation needed to thrive in school and beyond.
