TSC names successor for retiring Woodland Elementary principal

The Tippecanoe School Corporation is pleased to announce it has appointed Lee Sweet as the new principal of Woodland Elementary School for the 2019-20 school year. Sweet will replace Bruce Hull who will retire after 25 years with the TSC.

Sweet taught for 10 years before moving into the assistant principal position at Woodland in July 2016. He holds a bachelor's degree from Purdue University and a master's degree from Ball State University.

TSC Superintendent Dr. Scott Hanback says moving Sweet from assistant principal to principal is a natural transition. "Since Woodland's opening in 2008, families have come to experience a school environment that is focused on family involvement and building relationships," says Hanback. "I am confident Mr. Sweet will continue that tradition and build on it."

Sweet says it didn't take long for him to realize that Woodland was a special place. "Woodland operates under the belief that today's students are tomorrow's leaders," says Sweet. "Our staff takes pride in facilitating all students' growth and education in order to maximize their potential. In the years to come, we will continue our student-centered approach to develop responsible citizens, individual talents, and maintain a positive learning environment to enhance academic growth."

Sweet is married and has two children. His wife, Megan, is a 4/5 high ability teacher at Wyandotte Elementary School.

The TSC Board of School Trustees ratified Sweet's contract at its October 10 meeting.
