The Tippecanoe School Corporation is pleased to announce it has hired Brock Richardson as the assistant principal at Woodland Elementary School. Richardson fills a vacancy created in June when Lee Sweet moves from assistant principal to principal of Woodland.
Richardson joins the TSC with five years of experience teaching fifth grade at Western Intermediate School in Russiaville. He earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University, Kokomo and his master's degree from Ball State University.
Incoming Principal Lee Sweet says Richardson will be an asset to Woodland Elementary and the Tippecanoe School Corporation. "Throughout his entire educational career, Richardson has prepared for this next step by seeking out leadership opportunities," says Sweet. "He demonstrates passion about his craft, reflects on his actions and collaborates among those he works—all traits that will help him in this leadership role at Woodland Elementary."
As assistant principal, Richardson will oversee curriculum development, test coordination, student discipline, special education services and staff evaluations at the K-5 school of 630 students.
Richardson says he is excited to pursue his passion in elementary education at Woodland. "My goal is to foster a positive and collaborative learning environment for the staff and students at Woodland, where we are all driven to reach success for every student," says Richardson. "I view myself as an individual with a growth mindset; I am always seeking ways to improve and be a part of the forefront of change and decision making where the best interest of students is kept a priority."
The TSC Board of School Trustees ratified Richardson's administrative contract at its meeting May 8.
