Greater Lafayette Commerce announced Pamela Shideler, a first grade teacher at Dayton Elementary School, won a Golden Apple Award. A delegation from the Chamber and TSC administrators recently surprised her with the announcement in the gym surrounded by the entire student body.

Shideler has 29 years of teaching experience and holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a master’s degree from San Diego State University.

The award recognizes and celebrates the positive contributions of educational leaders in Tippecanoe County. Students, parents, administrators and colleagues nominate teachers for the award.

Greater Lafayette Commerce will honor the winners at a ceremony March 10.

Shideler says the Golden Apple Award isn’t about her. “It’s about Dayton Elementary and every single person who works at Dayton. Every single person—no exceptions.”
